Qualification

Candidates must meet the educational qualifications specified in Advertisement No. 01/2026-REC to apply for the respective posts at CSIR-NEIST. 

Key requirements include:

• Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) — Post Code: MTS
  • Essential: Matriculation (Class X) or equivalent pass from a recognised board.
  • Desirable: Intermediate (12th class / 10+2) pass from a recognised board.
• Driver (Non-Technical) — Post Code: DR
  • Possession of a valid driving licence for both Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) and Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV).
  • Knowledge of motor mechanism — the candidate should be able to remove minor defects in vehicles.
  • Experience of driving a motor car for at least 3 years after obtaining the valid Driving Licence.
  • Pass in 10th Standard (Matriculation) from a recognised board.

Salary Details

The MTS post carries approximate total emoluments of ₹33,375 per month at Pay Level-1 and the Driver post carries ₹36,700 per month at Pay Level-2, both as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC) — the Government’s current pay matrix for central and autonomous body employees.

• MTS — Initial Pay Level: Level-1 | Total Emoluments (approx.): ₹33,375 per month
• Driver (Non-Technical) — Initial Pay Level: Level-2 | Total Emoluments (approx.): ₹36,700 per month

Age Limit

Candidates must not exceed 25 years (MTS) or 27 years (Driver) as on 04-06-2026, the last date of receipt of online applications. Age relaxation — meaning the upper age limit is extended for reserved categories — applies as follows:

• MTS (Post Code: MTS): Upper age limit — 25 years
• Driver (Post Code: DR): Upper age limit — 27 years
• SC / ST: 5 years relaxation (only for posts reserved for them)
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation (only for posts reserved for OBC)
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years relaxation (SC/ST PwBD: up to 15 years; OBC PwBD: up to 13 years)
• Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years relaxation after deduction of military service rendered from actual age
• Widowed / Divorced Women (not remarried): Upper age limit relaxable up to 35 years

Application Fee

The application fee for CSIR-NEIST MTS & Driver Recruitment 2026 is ₹500 and must be paid online through SBI Collect (State Bank Collect) only.

• General / OBC (NCL) / EWS: ₹500
• SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen (ESM) / Women / CSIR Employees: ₹0 (Exempt)
• Payment Mode: Online via SBI Collect only (path: State Bank Collect → Educational Institute → Director NEIST → Payment Category → Application Fee → Select Post Code → Make Payment)
• Fee paid through any other mode will NOT be accepted; the application will be rejected as invalid.
• Fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Selection Process

The CSIR-NEIST MTS and Driver selection process will involve a Trade Test / Skill Test and/or Competitive Written Examination, followed by Document Verification. The exact mode of selection and scheme of examination will be notified in due course on the official website.

• Stage 1: Screening / Shortlisting by a duly constituted Screening Committee based on application review.
• Stage 2: Trade Test / Skill Test and/or Competitive Written Examination
• Stage 3: Document Verification & Medical Examination (for shortlisted candidates).

1. Visit www.neist.res.in and navigate to the Careers / Recruitment section.
2. Register with a valid email address and mobile number; note your login credentials.
3. Fill in personal, educational, category, and experience details as applicable.
4. Upload scanned copies of all required documents as PDF: SSC/10th certificate & marksheet, Intermediate/12th certificate (if applicable), caste/category certificate (if applicable), Driving Licence (for Driver post), NOC with Vigilance Clearance (if currently employed), PwBD certificate (if applicable), SBI Collect fee payment receipt, and any other relevant documents.
5. Pay the application fee of ₹500 online via SBI Collect (SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/Women/CSIR Employees are exempt); note the Transaction/UTR number and enter it in the application form.
6. Submit the completed application and download/print a copy for future reference. There is NO need to submit a hard copy.
