CIL Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification for CIL:
- Management Trainee (Mining) – Degree in Mining Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks from a University/Institute recognized by appropriate statutory authority in India. The course must be of regular full-time duration.
Age Limit for CIL: (As on 30th April 2026)
- Maximum 30 Years for General (UR) and EWS category candidates
Relaxation of Upper Age Limit:
- +5 Years for SC / ST candidates
- +3 Years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates
- +5 Years for candidates who are domiciles of J&K during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 (as per Govt. of India guidelines)
- Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) category candidates is as per extant Govt. of India guidelines
- No age limit for departmental candidates of Coal India Limited or its Subsidiary companies applying online
Pay Scale for CIL:
- Management Trainee (Mining) – ₹60,000 – 1,80,000/- (E-1 Grade) with an initial Basic Pay of ₹60,000/- per month during the training period.
Method of Selection for CIL:
- Eligible candidates must have qualified GATE-2025. Based on GATE-2025 Scores/Marks and vacancies, candidates will be shortlisted category-wise in the ratio of 1:3 in order of merit.
- In case of a tie in GATE Score, the applicant scoring higher percentage marks/CGPA in minimum eligible qualification will be placed higher in the merit list. If a tie still persists, the applicant who is senior in age will be placed higher.
- The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of GATE-2025 Scores/Marks only. Scores prior to or after GATE-2025 are not valid.
- Documents Verification (DV) and Initial Medical Examination (IME) of shortlisted candidates.
- Offer of Appointment will be issued only after successful completion of DV and IME.
